CALL OUR OFFICE IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE THE FOLLOWING...
1. If you do not feel your baby move. Before contacting the physicians office, try changing
activities to stimulate your little one, begin drinking LOTS of fluids, and you can try
massaging or moving your little one with your hands on your abdomen.
2. When your water breaks. This can be a gush, or just a trickle that doesn't stop. Pay
attention if the fluid is thick, odorous, has a color, etc... your physician will need to know.
3. If bright red bleeding occurs. Spotting after an exam or after intercourse is not unusual and
is generally brown in color. You might notice this when wiping yourself, if you are
saturating a pad with bright red blood contact your physician immediately.
4. Headache not relieved by Tylenol. If you have blurred vision or other visual disturbances
contact your physicians office.
5. Fever over 100 degrees.
6. Abdominal Pain that is sharp and will not go away.
7. When should you go to the hospital after your contractions begin? Before 37 weeks you are
"pre-term" so a physician will need to check you if your contractions are occuring more than
6 times an hour. Otherwise, when your contractions are 4 - 5 minutes apart and lasting for
more than a minute and you are no longer able to walk or talk through them, you will need
to go to the hospital Labor and Delivery Unit for evaluation.
